Succession: Retiring Financial Advisers

A seamless transition for retiring advisers

As you approach the next chapter of your life, you've spent years building a successful financial planning business and developing deep relationships with clients. Now, as you consider retirement, you face a critical decision: how do you ensure that both your clients and your team, if you have one, will be taken care of once you’ve stepped away?

At Greenarch Wealth Management, we understand the unique challenges retiring advisers face.  Our tailored retiring adviser proposition offers more than just a sale, it’s about safeguarding the future of everything you’ve built.

The challenges retiring advisers face include:
  • Client continuity: will your clients receive the same personalised care and attention you’ve provided for years?
  • Team security: what will happen to your loyal team? Will they be absorbed into a larger company and lose what they value in working as part of a smaller team?
  • Integrity of advice: will your clients be forced into cookie-cutter solutions that prioritise profits for the acquirer, not what’s best for them?
  • Loss of personal connection: will the acquirer treat your clients as just numbers, and can they build on the relationships you’ve worked hard to establish?
  • Finding a trusted buyer: can you trust the buyer to continue to build on the values and reputation you’ve built over the years?  Will the acquirer themselves be swallowed up as ever-larger acquisitions take place?
Your legacy, our commitment

At Greenarch Wealth Management, we understand that your business is more than just numbers.  It’s built on relationships, trust, and years of dedication to your clients.

If you're approaching retirement, we offer a solution that protects your legacy, ensures client continuity, and values your team. Our goal is to provide a smooth, personalised handover, ensuring both you and your clients are taken care of for the long term.

Why Greenarch Wealth Management?

1. Continuity for your clients

We pride ourselves on maintaining personal, face-to-face relationships with every client. When you entrust your clients to Greenarch Wealth Management, we ensure they continue to receive the high-quality, personal service they’ve come to expect. We’ll take the time to build relationships with them and carefully assess their financial solutions over time, making changes only when it’s demonstrably beneficial to them.

2. Your team matters

Unlike large consolidators, we don’t aim to strip away costs by letting your staff go. We believe your team is an asset. They know your business and clients, and we want to keep them as part of our growing team. This provides your staff with job security and gives them the opportunity to flourish in a supportive, ambitious environment.

3. High-quality ongoing advice with integrity

As a Chartered firm, we uphold the highest standards of advice.  During the early stages of our relationship with each of your clients, our aim is to understand where they are on their journey and confirm the ongoing suitability of their current arrangements.

4. Relationship building

In the first year, we will conduct a number of meetings with each client. Typically, the first meeting will be an initial handover. This is followed by a fact-finding meeting where we get to know the client.  A third meeting is intended to confirm the suitability of their existing arrangements, reassuring the client you have left them in a good place.  The next meeting will be their first full annual review.  This first year with frequent touchpoints helps build the relationship and reduces the risk of client attrition.

5. Longer-term continuity

Greenarch Wealth Management is wholly owned by the directors, and we have no outside investors.  In addition, we have a longer-term plan to develop our team to take the business forward so it continues beyond the working life of the current owners.  Our focus is on long term independence which means you can be confident your clients are in good hands well into the future.

6. Flexible payment terms

As we are not a big consolidator, we do not have a “one size fits all” approach to payment terms.  We are able to make you a competitive offer and give some flexibility about how we pay you.

What to expect in a transition to Greenarch Wealth Management

1. No pressure for immediate changes

We do not have our own investment platform or proprietary solutions. We are not governed by the pressures of private equity.  This allows us to take a genuinely independent view of clients’ existing arrangements.  We aim to maintain trust in their existing financial plans, reinforcing the value of the service you provided them throughout your career.

2. A personal approach

We are committed to maintaining the small-firm feel that clients and staff value. You can retire with confidence, knowing that your clients will continue to experience a high-quality, face-to-face service with the reassurance of continuity.

3. A focus on client retention

Client retention is key to any successful transition. Our experienced team works closely with clients over several meetings to ensure they feel comfortable and supported as their retiring adviser steps back. We prefer a “nothing is broken” approach, taking time to understand your client’s unique needs and concerns.

Your clients are in safe hands

You can trust us to provide:

  • A small-team environment where your clients will continue to receive personal, face-to-face financial planning services.
  • A client-first philosophy ensures your clients' financial plans are handled with care, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Tailored advice with no pressure to switch to new products.

You’ve built a business that matters to you and matters to us, too.

At Greenarch Wealth Management, we offer the perfect exit strategy that protects everything you’ve worked hard to achieve.
